The Tryout Process

  1. Attend the informational meeting after school on Monday, September 12th.
  2. Explore this website and learn about Science Olympiad and the commitment it takes here at FM.
  3. Obtain a copy of the 2016-2017 rules for the events you will be trying out in. Copies will be available at the informational meeting on Monday, September 12.
  4. Prepare for tryouts. This includes completing the necessary forms, gathering resources and study materials, and designing and constructing your devices.
  5. Attend Test Night on Saturday, October 1st.
  6. Attend Builds Day on Saturday, October 8th.

Important Dates

September 12, 2016 - Informational Meeting. The meeting will be held during the after-school period from 2:15-3:00 in 2220 for anyone interested in trying out for Science Olympiad. All who attend will be given a copy of the rules, specific parameters for try out events, and general information on FMSO. 

October 1, 2016 - Test Night.  Students will take tests demonstrating there knowledge on the various events for the upcoming year. These tests and events will be based on the list of specific event parameters provided at the informational meeting. In addition, there will be a General Science Test assessing your knowledge of various fields of science. It is critical that anyone trying out arrives on time, as no extra time will be provided.
